- One of the suspects involved in a 2020 shooting death had his request to be treated as a youthful offender denied. King Gary Williams, 21, was 19 at the time of the deadly shooting of 8-year-old Royta Giles Jr. at Riverchase Galleria. Williams, along with 24-year-old Montez Moses Miracle Coleman and 21-year-old Demetrius Dewayne Jackson, is charged with capital murder in the Jul. 3, 2020 shooting, along with other charges. - The Hoover City Council filled three vacancies on the city’s Parks and Recreation Board, Library Board, and Arts Council. Hunter Bridwell, a project manager for American Cast Iron Pipe Co. who grew up in Hoover, has been chosen for the spot on the Parks and Recreation Board. Terry Lamar, chief administrative officer for Hoover City Schools, will replace Cherinita Ladd-Reese on the Library Board. On the Hoover Arts Council, Realtor Tracy Dismukes will replace Julie Preskitt. (Hoover Sun)
- The City of Hoover recently announced the 2023 Hoover Innovation Summit: Cyber Security in Changing Times. The free event will bring public officials, industry experts, and business leaders together for a morning of networking and discussions on major issues in the digital world. The summit will be held on Jan. 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Hoover Library Theater. Registration is available here. (City of Hoover)
