  1. The Hoover Police Department has released the identity of the man who allegedly fired shots at an officer on Sunday afternoon. According to the department, Evan Rashad Lucas, 31, is suspected of opening fire on a family while traveling on Interstate 459 and firing at the unidentified officer. He has been charged with attempted murder. The reason for the shooting is still unclear. (WBRC)
  2. According to the Hoover City Schools' chief academic officer, students showed "astounding" growth in Spring 2022 academic test scores. The percentage of students who exhibited skills at or above grade level rose by 11 percent for math, five percent for science, and four percent for English. Hoover's test results were double the state average growth rate. (Hoover Sun)
  3. Hoover leaders hosted a domestic violence awareness forum on Tuesday night. The focus of the forum was to provide information to teens and young adults about dating violence.
