Teen In Custody After Jefferson County Shooting

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A teen has been arrested and charged with murder in a shooting death in Jefferson County Monday. The victim was found dead in a wooded area in Brighton off of Oak Ridge Circle.

"After conducting a complete investigation into the homicide, a 17-year-old subject was taken into custody," Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "He has been charged with murder and has a bond of $75,000."

The body was discovered around 9:30 a.m. Monday, and the victim's identity has not been released.
