  1. A Hoover woman was found dead in a residential swimming pool on Sunday. According to the Hoover Police Department, there was no evidence of foul play. The victim's name has not been released, as the investigation is ongoing. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
  2. Details for the new "Red Rock Action Plan" were announced this week, calling for the construction of a 36-mile connected loop of trails across the Greater Birmingham Trail Loop. The work will take place over the next 15 years to more effectively connect the entire Birmingham metro area. According to the plan, by adding 19 miles of new trail, a loop can be created beginning with Ruffner Mountain in the east through Railroad Park downtown to Red Mountain Park in the west, connecting the cities of Birmingham, Fairfield, Homewood, and Irondale.   3. New data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released this week stated that the eight highest-paying jobs in the Birmingham-Hoover metropolitan area last year were in the health care field. According to the data, the highest paid workers in the region were orthopedic surgeons, cardiologists, and dermatologists. Following the medical field, power distributors (ranked at No. 9) and financial managers (ranked at No. 10) rounded out the list. (AL.com)
