Blount County Education Foundation Awarded $5,000 from Allison Insuran

Snead, Ala. (February 23, 2024) — Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Allison Insurance a 2024 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with Blount County Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting academic excellence in Blount County Schools. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 for Blount County Education Foundation, which can be doubled to $10,000 just by having community supporters vote online.

Starting Friday, March 1, the Allison Insurance and Blount County Education Foundation community story will be highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/allison-insurance/, where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives a mix of at least 500 votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.

The Blount County Education Foundation was created in November of 1998, and due to tremendous support of the Blount County community, has awarded over $9 million dollars to the schools through various projects. The $10,000 donation will help the nonprofit with its county-wide summer learning program for students which includes reading and math support, STEAM activities, visual arts, music, and theater. Every summer program camper is also given a new pair of shoes and a new book to take home and keep.

Allison Insurance has close ties to the organization as many of their staff members have or know a student attending a school. The agency has volunteered during the summer learning program and assisted with reading and math tutoring and the STEAM activities. They’ve also participated in the 25th Annual BCEF Radiothon where the agency donated $2,500. Currently, Allison Insurance is holding a winter clothing drive for two of the Blount County elementary schools that have the greatest need and are encouraging clients to participate by dropping off clothes at donation boxes at their offices.

Throughout 2024, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
