- A former president of the University of South Alabama who served has died. Dr. Tony Waldrop, 70, served as the third president of USA from 2014 to 2021. He passed away after an undisclosed illness. (WKRG News 5)
- Several members of the Mobile City Council proposed a new ordinance to give voters more information about a proposed annexation. The ordinance would possibly reveal information about services provided in the area, current revenue, and a map. (Fox 10 News)
- Mobile County Health officials saw a slight rise in flu and COVID cases in the week since Thanksgiving. Officials expect to see a rapid rise in the next few weeks and encourage people to get vaccinated during next week's National Influenza Week. (NBC 15 WPMI)

- CityHope Church spread holiday cheer on Saturday morning through its 19th annual Merry Christmas Gulf Coast event. The event uses donations to buy toys for foster families in Mobile and Baldwin counties. The church is also holding a Christmas festival from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. (Fox 10 News)
- If you notice new art murals made from tape in downtown Mobile, then enjoy them while they're up, because they're temporary. The murals are part of a documentary on a group of artists called Tape Art that is filming in Mobile this week. (WKRG News 5)
