Lower number of oysters predicted for 2026 harvest in Alabama (utv44.com) — If you rely on oysters from Mobile Bay, expect tighter supplies soon: state officials say Alabama’s 2026 harvest will be poor and are closing public reefs at 2 p.m. on December 23. Marine scientists are tracking conditions in Mobile Bay and Mississippi Sound and using Deepwater Horizon settlement funds to restore struggling local oyster reefs.
   

2. Criminals 'Jingle' all the way to jail after Mobile Police operation (wkrg.com) — Mobile police wrapped up a months-long “DIP Jingle” operation targeting drug activity along Dauphin Island Parkway, leading to 32 arrests and the seizure of guns, cash, and vehicles. Officers executed 12 searches, including near a Government Boulevard gas station and a Brooke Street home by an elementary school, removing an estimated $227,000 in drugs from local streets.
   

3. Alabama concerts we loved in 2025 (al.com) — Mobile’s own big-band legacy took center stage when trombonist Fred Wesley Jr. returned home to perform with the Mobile Big Band Society, celebrating the city’s historic ensembles and thrilling a Temple Downtown crowd. His visit was one highlight in a year packed with standout concerts across Alabama, from massive festivals and arena shows to intimate theater performances that kept the state’s live music scene buzzing.
   

4. Photo Gallery: Delaware claims historic first bowl victory in first FBS season (udreview.com) — A college bowl game in Mobile just delivered history, as Delaware captured its first-ever bowl victory in its inaugural FBS season with a win over Louisiana. A university photo editor documented the action and atmosphere from the Mobile matchup in an extensive gallery for fans to relive the night.
   

5. Despite initial claims, records show Prichard has gotten $9.1 million from internet sales tax (fox10tv.com) — Mobile has received more than $85 million from Alabama’s internet sales tax, but city leaders argue they’d collect even more under their regular 5 percent rate. Nearby Prichard, which has quietly taken in $9.1 million, is siding with the state to preserve the current system, while Mobile backs a lawsuit seeking to have it ruled unconstitutional.
