- Mobile County Commission has received almost $2.2 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the HOME-ARP program. County leaders want to hear from Mobile residents about the most pressing local needs related to affordable housing, rental assistance, homelessness, and shelters. Residents can fill out the survey here to share input on what Mobile leaders should prioritize. (Press Release Desk)
- Early Sunday morning, a Mobile police vehicle was reportedly struck while responding to a crash. Theodore Dawes Fire Rescue said that while responding to the crash, a car ran into the parked MPD vehicle. It's unknown at the time whether the driver of the vehicle was injured. According to a Facebook post from Theodore Dawes Fire Rescue, this speaks to the need for more caution when approaching emergency situations on roadways. (WKRG News 5)
- Over the weekend, 10 cadets from each of the 16 Mobile County High Schools came together to clean up Oak Lawn Cemetary. The local veteran's cemetery had been overgrown, and the Junior ROTC students joined up to give back. LTC. Robert Barrow, the school system's director of army instruction, says that students like these give him hope for the future of our country. (NBC 15 WPMI)

If you're interested in making a real difference in lessening what goes into landfills, applications are now accepted for both the Manager and Assistant Manager positions. Mobile County's Recycling Center is operated by Goodwill GulfCoast, so these are Goodwill, not Mobile County, employees.
