Mobile County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Mobile County is August 8. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Mobile County Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/4: Teachers’ Work Day
• 8/7: Teacher Institute
• 8/8: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/6: End of First Quarter
• 10/9: No School for Students (Teachers’ Work Day)
• 10/10: Beginning of Second Quarter

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans’ Day)
• 11/2- 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/15: End of Second Quarter
• 12/18: No School for Students (Teachers’ Work Day)
• 12/18 - 12/29 No School (Christmas Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (New Year’s Day)
• 1/2: No School for Students (Teachers’ Work Day)
• 1/3: No School for Students (Professional Development)
• 1/4: Beginning of Third Quarter
• 1/15: No School (MLK Jr. Day)

February

• 2/12 - 2/16: No School (Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Presidents Day)

March

• 3/16: End of Second Quarter
• 3/19: No School for Students (Teachers’ Work Day)
• 4/20: Beginning of Fourth Quarter

April

• 4/2 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)

• 5/24: Last Day for Students
• 5/25: Teachers’ Work Day
