- On Monday, Jan. 2, Mobile experienced record-high temperatures. The weather broke a 17-year record with a high of 82 degrees; the previous record was a high of 80 degrees in 2006, according to the National Weather Service. The record heat comes after the Gulf Coast, and much of the country, experienced extremely low temperatures. (WKRG News 5)
- There are multiple low-cost rabies clinics planned in Mobile County for dogs, cats, and ferrets throughout January. The cost of the rabies vaccine is $12 per pet and is payable by cash. - On Tuesday morning, a man riding a motorized bicycle was hit by a car near Halls Mill Road and La Paloma Street. Officials say the victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police are looking for the driver of an unknown car that left the scene after hitting the cyclist. The driver could face a felony charge. (WKRG News 5)
