  1. The City of Mobile will honor Alabama's longest-serving senator on Friday as he prepares to retire. Senator Richard Shelby will receive a bust and plaque at the Mobile Convention Center during the ceremony on Dec. 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. More than 50 local businesses and agencies will also be present to recognize Shelby's years of public service.   2. W.P. Davidson High School's robotics team won the highest overall ward in the South's BEST Regional Robotics Competition this weekend. The team also won several other awards. This is the second year in a row that the team has won the BEST Award in a competition against 60 other teams. (AL.com)
  3. Mobile City Council members proposed a new ordinance amendment to require feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis before the city proceeds with annexation plans. The proposed requirements to amend the city code include an assessment to estimate the cost of providing additional public services for new annexations. (AL.com)
