Mobile police investigate late-night brawl on Dauphin St. ahead of NYE (utv44.com) — Mobile Police are investigating a late-night brawl on Dauphin Street in the downtown entertainment district, caught on video as bar patrons spilled into the street. The fight, which even drew in a man in a wheelchair, was broken up by bar security before officers arrived. The incident raises safety concerns just days before Dauphin Street fills for the Moon Pie Drop. 
2. Flu cases in Mobile County rising, no end in sight yet (fox10tv.com) — Flu-related visits are surging in Mobile County emergency rooms, with local health officials warning that cases have jumped sharply in just one week. Residents are urged to avoid the ER for routine flu symptoms, see primary care providers instead, and focus on prevention through handwashing, staying home when sick, and getting vaccinated, especially as more children are falling ill.
3. Alabama Cattlemen's Association Reminds Producers to Register for 2026 ACA Convention (southeastagnet.com) — Cattle producers should know the 2026 Alabama Cattlemen’s Association Convention is set for March 6–7 at the Mobile Convention Center, with the host hotel at the Riverview Renaissance. Early-bird pricing and hotel block rooms are still available, and the Buckles and Bids Beef PAC auction will headline Friday night’s activities for Alabama’s beef industry.
4. Domestic violence call in Mobile turns into drug trafficking and child safety case: MPD (wkrg.com) — Mobile police responding to a Christmas-night domestic violence call on Brewton Avenue say they found drugs inside the home and near a child, leading to two arrests. Two Mobile residents now face multiple charges, including domestic violence, chemical endangerment of a child, marijuana offenses, and trafficking synthetic marijuana. The child’s proximity to the alleged drugs is central to the case.
5. Judge sets hearing to consider ‘emergency' request to postpone Mobile ‘kingpin' trial (fox10tv.com) — A federal judge in Mobile has set a Tuesday hearing on an alleged drug “kingpin’s” emergency request to delay his upcoming trial. The defendant, now representing himself after a mistrial and issues with prior counsel, says he needs more time to ensure key subpoenas for records are properly served before jury selection scheduled for January 5.
