Their new Seoul-based office aims to attract Korean companies in sectors like shipbuilding, defense tech and biotech, potentially bringing jobs and trade opportunities directly tied to Mobile’s waterfront assets.

Ho Ho Ho and Mr. Socko: Mick Foley brings Christmas surprise, Santa Magic to Mobile (al.com) — Mobile hoops players at Sage Park got a surprise when WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley showed up in full Santa gear, handing out cash, jokes, and his signature Mr. Socko socks. Foley spent the day in Mobile appearing as Santa at a local wrestling promotion’s Christmas party, delighting kids and fans while supporting the growing independent wrestling scene in South Mobile County.
   

3. Stuffed animals, Pelican Girls and return to camp in the latest Scouting news (scoutingmagazine.org) — A Mobile Eagle Scout candidate, Addison Jones, has created a new historical marker near Colonial Fort Condé and the History Museum of Mobile to honor the 18th-century Pelican Girls, including her own ancestor. Her project, recently covered by local TV, highlights Mobile’s colonial roots and may soon expand into a children’s book sharing this unique chapter of the city’s past.
   

4. Santa visits babies in NICU at Mobile's USA Children's & Women's Hospital (wkrg.com) — Families with babies in the NICU at Mobile’s USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital got a special Christmas visit from Santa, complete with first photos and festive activities. Nurses say these moments of joy are part of family-centered care that eases stress and supports bonding. The hospital offers similar emotional support activities for parents throughout the year.
   

5. Ann Williams: A trailblazer in Mobile Fire-Rescue retires (wkrg.com) — A pioneering Mobile Fire-Rescue firefighter is wrapping up nearly three decades of service, after becoming the department’s first Black woman firefighter back in 1995. Ann Williams reflects on the physical and emotional challenges she overcame, the support she received from colleagues and family, and the determination that carried her through. Her last day is Jan. 12, with a public recognition planned in late February.
