• Alabama judge rules that fired Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt can coach again (dnj.com) — A DeKalb County judge has temporarily cleared Rainsville native Jeremy Pruitt to coach college football again, halting the NCAA’s six‑year show‑cause penalty. Pruitt, who’s been coaching and teaching at Plainview High in Rainsville, is suing the NCAA for lost earnings tied to his firing at Tennessee and claims he was unfairly singled out in the recruiting scandal.
   

• Several charged with drug related charges (times-journal.com) — Two Rainsville residents are among 38 people charged in a recent DeKalb County drug enforcement push spanning October and November. Deputies and local police across several towns made multiple traffic stops, warrant searches, and responses to complaints that turned up meth, marijuana, pills, firearms, and paraphernalia, leading to a wide range of possession and trafficking charges.
