Body Of Missing Boater Recovered Friday On Black Warrior River

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Hale County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Friday that the body of a Helena man who went missing Monday morning on the Black Warrior River has been recovered.

As Patch previously reported, Larry James, 47, was last seen operating a boat around 10:30 a.m. that was later found abandoned along the riverbank south of the Lock 8 Boat Landing in Greene County.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agtency's Marine Patrol Division and Aviation Unit responded to the scene, along with the Tuscaloosa Fire Department’s dive team, for an extensive search and rescue effort.

The death investigation is ongoing and no other details have been released at this time.
