TUSCALOOSA, AL — NuBeginnings Church (NBC) has partnered with University Place Elementary School (UPES) through The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama’s Adopt-A-School program.

“At University Place Elementary School, our mission is ‘Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today,’ and we believe in the power of partnerships that truly make a difference,” Principal Nakelya Mullins said. “Our collaboration with NuBeginnings Church represents more than community service—it’s a shared mission to nurture, empower, and inspire every child to reach their fullest potential. Together, we are growing tomorrow’s leaders through compassion, commitment, and collective purpose.”

The Chamber says the partnership will center on student leadership development through positive incentives, increased parental engagement to support attendance and academic growth, and teacher appreciation efforts designed to recognize the work of educators.

“At NuBeginnings Church, we believe that real change starts with showing up for our community—especially for our children,” NBC Pastor Derrick Johnson said. “We are honored to partner with University Place Elementary School as their Adopt-A-School partner. This is more than a partnership; it’s a commitment to support, uplift, and invest in the next generation. We look forward to walking alongside the incredible educators, students, and families of University Place as we work together to build a brighter future.”
