Tuscaloosa City Schools Raises $114K For United Way Of West Alabama
TCS students and employees raised more than $114,000 for United Way of West Alabama during its 2024–25 campaign.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS) students and employees raised more than $114,000 for United Way of West Alabama during its 2024–25 campaign.

The district reported a combined total of $114,057.84, with both student and employee contributions outpacing last year’s giving. Student donations jumped to $66,341.01, up more than $24,000 from the previous year.

Employee giving also rose, increasing from $41,356.14 to $47,716.83, a gain of more than $6,300.
Superintendent Mike Daria said the results highlight the district’s commitment to community service.

“This campaign is a powerful reflection of who we are as a school system,” Daria said. “Our students and employees consistently step forward to support our community, and their generosity will make a meaningful difference for families across Tuscaloosa. We are proud of this work and grateful to everyone who contributed.”
Arcadia Elementary led all schools with $12,118.64, followed by The Alberta School of Performing Arts with $8,551.06. Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools–Elementary raised $5,368.46, and Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary contributed $4,274.24.
District officials said the funds will support United Way programs across the region, helping families gain access to essential services such as emergency assistance, food security programs, health resources and educational support.
