Tuscaloosa County School System Taps Daniel Bray As Next Superintendent
The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education announced Thursday that Daniel Bray has been hired as its next superintendent.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education announced Thursday that Daniel Bray has been hired as the next superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System (TCSS).

Bray, who currently serves as the district’s director of secondary curriculum and instruction, will assume the role Friday, Nov. 21.

“I am humbled by the confidence the Board has in me and honored to serve as the next Superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System,” Bray said in a statement.
Board President Bill Squires said Bray’s leadership approach and goals for the system stood out during the interview process.

“We were impressed with Dr. Bray’s vision for our school system and felt he was the right fit for the position,” Squires said.
Bray has served in his current role since 2021, working on initiatives including strategic planning, technology implementation, virtual learning, safety preparedness and leadership development.
He also leads the TCSS Aspiring Administrators Academy, which is designed to build a stronger internal pipeline for school leadership positions.
Before joining the central office, Bray served as principal of Brookwood High School and Brookwood Middle School, assistant principal at Hale County High School, and as a classroom teacher.
He previously worked in financial planning and wealth management and holds four degrees from The University of Alabama, including a doctorate in educational leadership.
“Together with our educators, families, and community partners, we will continue to strengthen the foundation that has been built and ensure every student is supported and empowered to succeed,” Bray said.
