Tuscaloosa's Finance Department Honored By Government Finance Officers Association
The distinction marks the 37th consecutive year Tuscaloosa has received the honor.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa announced this week that its Finance Department has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for the 37th consecutive year.

City officials say the award recognizes governments that exceed the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles by producing annual comprehensive financial reports that demonstrate transparency, clarity and a high standard of financial management.

Tuscaloosa first received the honor in 1987 for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 1986.
The city also said Government Finance Officers Association represents public finance professionals across the United States and Canada and evaluates reports submitted by cities, counties and other public entities.
