TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama’s Million Dollar Band has been selected to perform in the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2026, returning to one of the nation’s most-watched holiday stages for the second time in school history.

Macy’s officials announced the news Monday in New York and during an event at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, with the Million Dollar Band being one of 10 marching bands chosen from a pool of more than 100 applicants nationwide.

Organizers said the Million Dollar Band will represent Alabama in the centennial edition of the iconic parade, which draws millions of television viewers and spectators each year.
Each selected band will receive a $10,000 grant from Macy’s to support fundraising and travel efforts ahead of the 2026 appearance in New York City.

Sara Flores, associate producer for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, said the Alabama band’s energy and excitement made it a standout selection.
“The streets of New York City will undoubtedly pulse with energy and excitement brought by the University of Alabama’s phenomenal marching band as they make their way down the Parade route,” Flores said.
Ken Ozello, the university’s director of bands, said the selection is a tremendous honor for the students and the state.
“To return to one of America’s most iconic holiday traditions is a privilege, and our students are thrilled to represent our university and our state,” Ozello said.
The Million Dollar Band last marched in the parade in 2021.
