Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. Phoenix fire crews extinguished two business fires overnight on Thursday morning. At around 3:00 a.m. on Feb. 9, firefighters were called to fire at an A/C refrigeration company on 19th and Peoria avenues — the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Firefighters were called at the same time to the area of 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road for a fire at a storage unit facility — the cause is also unknown. No injuries were reported. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  2. On Wednesday, the City of Phoenix unveiled a unique project in which shipping containers will be used as a sustainable housing alternative to help fight the housing crisis. Dozens of community members, including Artlink, Inc. President and CEO Catrina Kahler, showed up at Spark Box Park near 2nd and Roosevelt streets to look inside the small neighborhood housing project currently on display. Offices and one-bedroom, one-bath units — all of which are created with solar-powered and repurposed shipping containers — will cost about $80,000 and $200,00 respectively. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  3. On Wednesday morning, three highway workers were hit by a teen driver on I-17 north of Phoenix. The incident took place at 4:57 a.m. near Anthem when a 16-year-old boy stuck three construction crew workers who were employed by Kiewit Corporation, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said. The workers were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; the driver's injuries are unknown, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. (NewsBreak)
