Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:
- Sky Harbor International Airport expected to see a record 180,000 travelers in a single day on Monday, as visitors left the state after the Super Bowl and the WM Phoenix Open. Officials said the numbers will likely make for the busiest day the airport has ever seen. On an average day, the airport sees around 120,000 travelers. (Arizona's Family)
- The Verizon Frontline Network donated $10,000 to the Phoenix Police Foundation during a tour of Verizon's efforts to prepare for the Super Bowl. The funds will go towards renovating the Central Phoenix Victim's Center in downtown Phoenix. Planned renovations include making the facility more welcoming and increasing privacy. (Daily Independent)
- By 2025, Phoenix is set to become the new host of the country's largest annual semiconductor and microchips conference. While SEMICON West has previously taken place in California, it will be moving to the Phoenix Convention Center on October 2025, 2027, and 2029 with San Francisco taking the conference in 2026 and 2028. The conference brings semiconductor and microelectronic representatives from around the world. (KTAR.com)
