Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:
- Arizona State University is set to offer a new school that focuses on preparing students for a career in studying the ocean. The School of Ocean Futures will be bringing together staff from ASU as well as the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences in Bermuda to offer graduate, undergraduate, and online programs. (12news.com KPNX)
- A fuel tanker in northwest Phoenix that was transferring 8,000 gallons of fuel suffered a puncture on Sunday morning. The puncture resulted in a leak of hundreds of gallons of unleaded gasoline, forcing two nearby businesses to evacuate and HazMat teams to respond to keep the gasoline from going into storm drains. Throughout Sunday, cleanup teams worked to take care of the leak while waiting for another tanker to transfer the leftover fuel, and drivers were asked to avoid the area. (Arizona's Family)
- The Arizona Latino Arts and Cultural Center in downtown Phoenix has been promoting arts, advocacy, and education in the Arizona Latino community since 2009. The center was recently featured on Arizona PBS to talk about its mission in exhibiting work from local Latino artists and helping them learn how to market their work. (Eight, Arizona PBS)
