PHOENIX, AZ — The first official day of summer in the Valley brings with it a chance of monsoon rains for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

There is a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms Tuesday evening, along with a chance of gusty winds and blowing dirt. The overnight low is expected to be a warm 86 degrees, the weather service predicted.

The possibility of rain continues through the rest of the week, with chances ranging from 20-30 percent most days. Thursday has the highest probability of rain, with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms that night.

Highs in the Valley this week are expected to be between 106-109 degrees, with overnight lows in the upper 80s all week. Those hot overnight lows could be dangerous for those who don't have air conditioning, providing little relief from the daytime heat, according to the weather service.
