Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. On Monday afternoon, a former Phoenix police officer was sentenced to 15 months for PPP loan fraud. Toni Richardson, who was working as a Phoenix officer at the time, wrongfully used federal funds meant to help small and medium-sized businesses that had to shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic by disguising a social club as a business and claiming during the application that they would use the money to retain employees, maintain payment, and pay the business’s bills. Richardson took a plea deal that included 15 months behind bars, including time already served, supervised release for three years, and a restitution of $1.014 million. She has been ordered to self-surrender by noon on Oct. 31. (Arizona's Family)
  2. A $1 million “The Pick” lottery ticket sold in Phoenix has yet to be claimed. The jackpot-winning ticket for the Sep. 17 drawing was sold at the Circle K at 19th and Northern avenues. The drawing's winning numbers were: one, three, eight, 14, 16, and 39. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  3. A beloved Irish pub is closing in Phoenix after more than two decades of business. Rosie McCaffrey’s Irish Restaurant and Pub, a staple in Phoenix for more than 20 years, will host a final celebration for their last weekend on Sep. 23-24. The owner of the pub just off 7th Street and Camelback Road, Seamus McCaffrey, has not said what he will be working on next. "It has been such a joy and privilege to serve my community throughout the years through the charity work that I’ve been involved in. Owning this pub and your patronage has made it all possible," McCaffrey wrote in a Facebook post. (Arizona's Family)
