Fundraiser BBQ For Phoenix Officer Who Was Shot Happening Dec. 17

The fundraiser for Tyler Moldovan who was shot several times while on duty earlier this week is happening at the Phoenix LEA headquarters.

PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association is hosting a fundraiser and BBQ all day Friday to benefit Phoenix Police Officer Tyler Moldovan, who was shot several times Tuesday while on the job. Moldovan, 22, was rushed to St. Joseph's hospital where he remained in extremely critical condition as of Friday morning, according to an update by Phoenix Police.

The benefit is set for 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association headquarters at 1102 W. Adams St. in Phoenix.

You can make donations at the event or online. The association promises that 100 percent of the donations will go to the Moldovan family.

"He is married, and is loved by his wife, parents, brother, and extended family," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Ann Justus in an email.

Moldovan just graduated from the police academy in March.

"We ask for your continued thoughts and prayers and appreciate your concern," Phoenix Police said in a Friday morning tweet.

Essa Williams, 24, is the accused shooter, according to police. He's been booked into the Maricopa County Jail on suspicion of attempted first degree murder, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person and resisting arrest.
