Chief among them is 22-year-old shortstop, Fernando Tatis Jr., who is coming off his best season as an MLB player.
Tatis finished 2020 with the second-most home runs (20) in the National League, while placing fourth in the senior circuit in RBIs (45).
Next to Tatis Jr., on the left side of the Friars' infield is veteran third baseman, Manny Machado.
Machado is entering his ninth season in the majors, having belted 223 home runs and 1,268 hits in his career to-date.
The duo are joined by veterans like 1st baseman Eric Hosmer and outfielders Tommy Pham, Jurickson Profar and Wil Myers — all of whom played a major role in the Padres' postseason run a year ago.
The D-backs will start team veterans, like outfielders David Peralta and Ketel Marte, with 1st baseman Christian Walker and catcher Stephen Vogt returning to the desert in 2021.
