Man Arrested, Charged With Fatal Shooting Near San Miguel Ave.
Wednesday, Khari A. Lane, 21, was charged with the Sunday shooting and beating death of Xavier Dillard, 29.

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police said they arrested Khari Akira Lane, 21, Wednesday, charging him with the Sunday shooting and beating death of Xavier Dillard, 29.
Sunday around 8 a.m., Phoenix police were dispatched to a home near 10600 San Miguel Avenue on a report of an injured man lying in the property’s front yard. Officers found Dillard on the ground with a gunshot injury and “severe physical trauma,” according to a police report.
Phoenix Fire medics arrived at the scene and pronounced Dillard dead.

As Phoenix police continued to investigate Dillard’s case, they learned that he was reported missing the day before he was killed.
On Wednesday, police developed probable cause against Lane. They arrested Lane, who was armed, near Indian School Road and 107th Avenue. He was booked on several charges, including first-degree murder, theft, armed robbery and probation violation, police reported.
