Man Is Shot, Dies After Defending Another At Phoenix Bar
A man was fatally shot at a Phoenix bar Saturday after he defended a man who was assaulted by the suspect, Brandon Mitchell, 31.
PHOENIX, AZ — Charles Porter, 43, was shot and killed Saturday after he defended another man assaulted by the suspect at a Phoenix bar, police said.
About 12:45 a.m., Phoenix police were called to a bar near 15000 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix on report of a shooting. Once there, police said they found Porter with gunshot wounds and in critical condition. Phoenix Fire medics took Porter to the hospital, where he died.
Meanwhile, police said after they arrived at the shooting’s scene, they learned that witnesses saw Brandon Mitchell, 31, assaulting a 50-year-old man at the bar. Phoenix police reported that “Porter confronted Mitchell about the assault and Mitchell shot him.”

Police took Mitchell into custody, and he faces charges of second-degree murder and assault.
