Maricopa County Recorder's Offices Now Ballot Drop-Off Locations
The Maricopa County Recorder's Offices in Mesa and downtown Phoenix are now open for voters to drop off their early ballots.
PHOENIX — To combat confusion and make the Nov. 3 election as seamless as possible for Arizona voters, they can now drop off their early ballots at two new locations.
The Maricopa County Recorder's Office locations in Mesa and downtown Phoenix are now official drop-off locations, according to Diana Solorio, spokesperson for the recorder's office. The move was approved by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
Previously, voters who tried to drop off their ballots at the offices were pointed towards open polling places. As of Thursday, there are 48 open voting locations in the county and counting.

"We will more locations open next week, and on Election Day, we will have 175 Vote Centers open with additional ballot drop boxes as well," Solorio told Patch.
There had been some confusion around whether or not the recorder's office was a drop-off location prior to their official designation. Some voters were showing up at the Mesa office with their ballots after seeing it was a drop-off location online but were turned away by police officers stationed outside.

Patch learned of the confusion through ProPublica's Electionland Project.
The Mesa location at 227 East Javelina Avenue will be open 24/7 until Nov. 3 and was deemed a fully operational drop-off location Tuesday.
The downtown Phoenix location at 111 S Third Avenue, Suite 103, will have a ballot drop-off box. That location will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m from now until Nov. 3.
Polls open on Election Day at 6 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. To find a polling place near you, visit the Maricopa County Recorder's website for more information.
