Mother Killed, Child Injured In Domestic Shooting: Police
The 6-year-old child was found in the care of the man charged on suspicion of his mother's homicide.
PHOENIX, AZ — A 27-year-old woman was killed and her 6-year-old son was injured early Sunday morning in what police are calling a domestic shooting, according to Phoenix Police.
Delores Smith, 27, was found dead Sunday morning at her home in the 5300 block of West Grenadine Road, police said in a news release.
William Zovieh Washington Calvin, 20, who police said was in a romantic relationship with Smith, was arrested and booked into Maricopa County Jail on suspicion of first degree murder, according to police.

The 6-year-old boy was treated at a local hospital for an injury that was not life threatening, police said.
When police found the boy just before 10 a.m. Sunday, he was in Calvin's care. Someone had called for a welfare check on the boy because he was injured, police said.

Calvin told police that the boy's mother was at her home, where police found her dead from gunshot wounds, police said in the news release.
