Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Hit At I-17 And Dunlap

A Phoenix pedestrian is in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle at the I-17 overpass and Dunlap Avenue Wednesday morning.

PHOENIX, AZ — A female pedestrian was discovered Wednesday lying on the pavement at the I-17 overpass and Dunlap Avenue in Phoenix. She now lies in a hospital bed in critical condition.

About 5:45 a.m., Phoenix police were called to the Dunlap Avenue/I-17 overpass on a report of a pedestrian on the pavement likely struck by a vehicle, witnesses told police.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Though initial police reports indicated the accident was a hit and run, police updated their report to say that the motorist didn’t run from the scene; however, he had “parked away from the initial collision.”

Traffic was blocked after the accident, with Phoenix police tweeting around 6 a.m. that the intersection was restricted and access to I-17 was cut off.

The Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted around 11 a.m. that all the lanes in the area were reopened.
