  1. Roosevelt Row-area residents are concerned with safety following a shooting in downtown Phoenix that injured a Scottsdale police sergeant over a week ago. In case you missed it: The shooting occurred while serving a search warrant for 37-year-old Kenneth Hearne, who shot Sgt. Scott Galbraith. Hearne later died in the hospital after officers shot him. One Roosevelt Row resident identified as "Braden" said he has seen and experienced more crime-related issues lately. "I’ve had a knife pulled on me, and I’ve had people yell at me from across the street, saying 'I’m going to kill you,'" he said. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
  2. Tempe started training city employees to see the signs of and report human trafficking. According to the city, human trafficking can be through forced labor or prostitution, with the average age of victims being 14 in Arizona. (Daily Independent)
  3. Glendale police confiscated 25 pounds of methamphetamine, seven pounds of fentanyl powder, four pounds of heroin, and over 16,000 fentanyl pills on Jan. 6. The Glendale Narcotics Enforcement Team was conducting search warrant executions at three locations when they seized the drugs along with two handguns. Omar Evaristo Valenzuela Arella, 42, was arrested and booked on several drug charges. (KTAR.com)

  • According to a new report by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Arizona is leading the country for rising youth homelessness rates. More than 900 people under 25 are without shelter in the state. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
