Here are the top stories today in Phoenix:
- Maricopa County released its initial unofficial vote totals Tuesday evening after the polls closed. Those numbers showed that voters across Phoenix mostly leaned toward support for additional school funding, but in a few districts the opposite was the case. (Phoenix Patch)
- There have been 49,962 "breakthrough" cases of COVID-19 in Arizona. Breakthrough cases happen when a person who is fully-vaccinated becomes infected. They typically happen when immunity from vaccination begins to wane and before the person receives a booster. (ABC15 Arizona)
- Some Phoenix senior citizens helped break a Guinness World Record for the most viewers of a live-streamed bingo game. The game was streamed by Televeda, an online platform run by a Scottsdale couple that was designed to help seniors fight loneliness, a problem that has only grown during the pandemic. (Arizona's Family)
- Zillow is one of many internet buyers that purchases homes and resells them after making cosmetic changes, with intentions on turning a profit. The company bought hundreds of homes in the Phoenix metro area but the market began to cool before Zillow sold them. The company's median listing price in the Valley is now 6 percent below what the company paid for the houses. (12news.com KPNX)
