Phoenix Fire: Man Trapped Under Palm Tree Dies After Rescue
A tree trimmer trapped under a palm tree near 20th Street and Indian School Road in Phoenix died on the scene Tuesday.

PHOENIX — A tree trimmer became trapped under a palm tree while on the job and did not survive his injuries, the Phoenix Fire Department said Tuesday.
The incident took place near 20th Street and Indian School Road in Phoenix, where the man became trapped underneath a palm tree he was attempting to trim. The fire department responded to rescue him at around 10:40 a.m.

Images from the department posted to Twitter show firefighters surrounding the tree and using a crane to lift it from the ground in a residential backyard.

According to a fire department update just an hour later, the rescue was successful but the tree trimmer died on the scene.
"The tree trimmer has been rescued from the tree," the tweet said. "Unfortunately he was beyond any resuscitative efforts. He was pronounced deceased on scene."

It is unclear how long the man had been trapped under the tree. No other details were immediately available.
