HBC Roofing is pleased to announce this quarters recipient for its charitable roof recue initiative is Bethel Sonrise church in Chandler.

HBC roofing contractors donated their time, labor, and, materials to replace a roof at the church which had become leaky and too damaged to simply patch. HBC roofing spent a day and a half tearing apart the old roof, adding new underlayment, and putting on a new roofing system. The estimated value of the roof replacement was $5,500.

HBC Roofing’s work at Bethel Sonrise church was part of the company’s Phoenix Roof Rescue Initiative where each quarter the Mesa Roofing company sets aside 3 percent of its total revenue to help community members with essential roof repairs. The program was started to help the community and show HBC Roofing customers that their money is going to more than just a company’s bottom line.

HBC Roofing General Manager John Halliday said donating their services to Bethel Sonrise was the perfect choice because church resources not spent on roof repairs can go to other essential services over the holidays.

“We had a few applications for our Roof Rescue this quarter, but choosing to help Bethel repair their roof just seemed like the right choice for the Christmas season,” Halliday said. “The church does a lot of great work in the community, and we figured that money not spent on a roof replacement could be used by the church to help more people during a time when people need it the most. HBC’s Roof Rescue Initiative is about helping the community and giving back and we thought helping repair a house of God really lived up to that mission.”

Bethel Sonrise Pastor, Preston Dobbins said his church was grateful for the work done by Halliday and the HBC Roofing team.

“I am very grateful for John Halliday and HBC Roofing for their service and commitment to giving back. I am a Pastor at a local church whose building has needed many repairs and restorations the last couple of years. John and HBC have gone above and beyond in being an absolute blessing to me, our congregation, and the community we are striving to serve, continually donating time and resources to our church,” Dobbins said. “Words cannot express my gratitude. All I can say is the world would be a better place with more John Hallidays.”

Bethel Sonrise church is the second recipient of the Phoenix Roof Rescue initiative. Last quarter HBC Roofing donated over $1,500 in time and resources to help an elderly Valley resident repair a leak in her roof. Halliday plans to continue the program every quarter and is hoping to raise more money and help more people next year.

“I love being able to do this program,” Halliday said. “I wish I could do it a whole lot more. In the bible it says it is better to give than to receive and doing this program proves how true that lesson is.”
