- Grand Canyon University students and the Phoenix Police Department Crime Lab collaborated to create a shoeprint database. The searchable database is intended to help investigators identify shoe impressions that are found left behind at crime scenes by providing information such as the type of shoe and shoe size. Previously without the database, Phoenix police forensic scientists relied on Google searches and browsing websites, such as Zappos, to determine shoe information. (Cronkite News)
- Madonna will be stopping in Phoenix during her 2023 world tour. The 35-date Celebration Tour will be headed to the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix on Jul. 22. Bob the Drag Queen is featured as the event's special guest. Tickets for the show will go on sale on Jan. 27 at 10:00 a.m. (Subscription: The Arizona Republic)
- On Monday, Phoenix Children’s opened a multi-specialty clinic at its Avondale campus. The new 70,000-square-foot building offers 68 rooms across two floors — compared to the old facility which boasted 27 rooms, according to Chief Operating Officer of Phoenix Children’s Medical Group Jared Muenzer. The new expansion will also allow for increased visitation availability and increased medical providers onsite. (KTAR.com)
