  1. Following its recent lockdowns and threats against Phoenix schools, community members are concerned about the safety of students and faculty. Phoenix police are developing protocols to address the growing issue while training for active shooter scenarios. Phoenix schools are also considering strengthening security and implementing metal detectors, as well as offering more mental health resources to students. (The Arizona Republic)
  2. Breadfruit & Rum Bar, a beloved Jamaican restaurant that closed after 12 years in March 2020, is now reopening in a new downtown Phoenix location: the kitchen of Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour on Central Avenue and Jefferson Street. The Jamaican bar will be replacing Gemini Pizza, a New York-style pizza joint that’s recently moved out of the cocktail bar. Fans are eagerly awaiting the restaurant's return, but Breadfruit has not yet announced an official reopening date. (Phoenix New Times)
  3. Residents of Weldon Court, a Phoenix mobile home park near 12th St. and Indian School, are reportedly being forced to relocate. Residents say they were told via email that the land they are currently leasing is being turned into condos and they have about 180 days to vacate the premises. A community meeting was held on Tuesday about the notice, and residents left "outraged," according to reports. (ABC 15)
