Video: City Of Phoenix Remembers Lives Lost On 9/11
The city of Phoenix hosted a virtual tribute to the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 Friday morning, the 19th anniversary of the attacks.

PHOENIX — The city of Phoenix is honoring the lives lost 19 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001, but this year's ceremony looks a little different thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
The tribute went virtual Friday morning at 9 a.m. to read the names of the Americans who died in the terrorist attacks in New York City and in Pennsylvania. Several city leaders also spoke, including Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams, Phoenix Fire Chief Kara Kalkbrenner and several others.
On Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes. A total of 2,977 people were killed in New York City, Washington, D.C. and outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
