  1. The city of Phoenix and the University of Arizona are running a yellow-light study to try to reduce red-light crashes. According to AAA and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, there were 113 deaths and 9,300 injuries in the Phoenix area due to red-light running. So far with sensors at 12 intersections, the data showed red-light running decreased when the length of yellow lights were increased at three intersections. (12news.com KPNX)
  2. The second annual Lego drive at Phoenix Children's Hospital is again lifting the spirits of children battling cancer. The drive was created by Mack Porter and his family, as he recalled the long days and nights in the hospital as he endured his fight against cancer in 2021. The Amazon wish list brought in about 300 donations, many of which came with personal notes from those touched by this effort. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  3. Maricopa County's Environmental Services Department's recent inspection revealed mold in an ice machine and frozen meat in garbage bags, among other health violations at Phoenix restaurants. Hodori Soon Tofu, The Golden Pineapple Craft Lounge, La Botana Bar and Grille, and El Super Taco did not make the grade for the Jan. 18 inspection. Those that made the Dean's List included Phoenix Zoo, Joe's Real BBQ, Tony's Italian Deli, Riverboat Bingo, In-N-Out Burger, and Cafe Rio Mexican Grill. (Arizona's Family)
