Your Guide To Phoenix Area 2021 Turkey Trots

PHOENIX, AZ — Starting off Thanksgiving Day with a turkey trot has become almost as much of a tradition among the athletically-inclined and health conscious as big meal with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce.

With our mild temperatures and sunny skies this time of year, the Valley has plenty of Thanksgiving Day walks and runs to choose from.

Phoenix Turkey Trot

The Phoenix Turkey Trot has options for all ages and ability levels.

  • The Gobbler Dash, a 1-mile run for parents and kids 12 and younger, starts at 7:30 a.m.
  • The Tot Trot, a 50-yard dash for kids 6 and younger, starts at 9:30 a.m.
  • The 10k run, open to all abilities, starts at 8 a.m.
  • The 5k run and walk starts at 8:30 a.m.

Participants can sign up through race day. Registration on Thanksgiving Day starts at 6:30 a.m. at Wesley Bolin Plaza, 1700 W. Washington St.

Fountain Hills Turkey Trot

This year is the Fountain Hills Community Services Department 31st Annual Turkey Trot 5k and 1-mile Fitness Walk.

Registration will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday. There will be no same-day registration.

The race starts at 7:15 a.m. Thanksgiving Day on Avenue of the Fountains east of Verde River Drive.

Mesa Turkey Trot 10k and 5k

The original Valley Turkey Trot is at Red Mountain Park, at 7745 E. Brown Road in Mesa. The one-mile run begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5k and 10k runs begin at 8 a.m.

Participants can register through race-day morning. Same-day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.

The race begins on Sunvalley Boulevard between Red Mountain High School and Red Mountain Park, and ends in Red Mountain Park.

Proceeds go to the Sequoia School for the Deaf, Mountain View Wrestling Club, Boy Scout Troop 451, United Food Bank, Merry Mainstreet, Mesa Polar Express, Love Your Friend, Arizona Celebration of Freedom, and various other local organizations.

Anthem Turkey Trot

The annual Athem Turkey Trot includes 5k, 10k and a half-mile kids' dash options. Participants can register through race-day morning. Packet pick up and late registration begins at 7 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

The race starts and finishes at Anthem Community Center. The race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to St. Rose Food pantry.

Thanksgiving Day Classic

The Thanksgiving Day Classic includes 10 mile, 5K, and 1 mile Fun Run options. All races start around 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day at Peoria Sports Complex at 16101 N. 83rd Ave. in Peoria.

Registration ends at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with no race-day registration.

Proceeds from the races will support the Peoria Diamond Club, providing grants to many local charities including The Salvation Army and Special Olympics Arizona. Participants are also encouraged to bring a toy for the Peoria Diamond Club’s Toy Drive.
