  1. The Barrett-Jackson car auction here in Scottsdale at WestWorld has officially kicked off. The auction is estimated to be the largest since the event began in 1971, and event organizers said they expect about 350,000 attendees during the nine-day event. The show will run through Jan. 29.   2. The Super Bowl is just around the corner, and the Super Bowl Host Committee is detailing its plans to involve the entire Valley in the many events planned to lead up to the game. Some of the features planned by the committee include large Roman numerals LVII for the Super Bowl LVII in several areas around the valley, including Scottsdale. Events planned for Scottsdale include the Historic Old Town ESPN Main Street Tailgate and the Sports Illustrated The Party at Talking Stick Resort. (KTAR.com)
  3. Scottsdale resident and long-time volunteer Perry Fanzo was awarded the Lifetime Achievement President's Volunteer Service Award last month. Fanzo received a letter and certificate for the reward, both signed by President Joe Biden. The 66-year-old Fanzo has been volunteering for the last 18 years at the Arizona Humane Society pet adoption program, and during that time, he's logged around 15,500 volunteer hours.
