Here are the top three stories in Scottsdale today:
- Scottsdale's efforts to save water during 2022 were a success, as the city reduced water use by 38 million gallons or nearly six percent. The city aimed to reduce water usage by five percent during 2022 through multiple initiatives and projects, such as installing new cooling tower controllers at water facilities, cleaning water pipes, and more. (Subscription: The Arizona Republic)
- Officials in nearby Phoenix approved $230 million in funding to convert the city's buses to low and near-zero emission buses. The new fleet would not need to use gas and would not emit tailpipe pollution. Phoenix aims to convert at least a third of the bus fleet to zero emissions by 2027. (KJZZ)
- A Scottsdale man is accused of defrauding people of money through multiple methods that authorities said were untrue, such as telling people that he was helping to raise money for veterans through a golf tournament. Police arrested Robert Alexander in August, and since then, around 20 people have come forward to accuse Alexander of defrauding them of money. (Arizona's Family)
