Here are the top three stories in Scottsdale today:
- Native American dancers who were targeted by a gallery owner's racist rant are asking that the gallery owner be faced with hate crime chargers. The dancers were performing in Old Town Scottsdale on Tuesday and were in the process of being filmed by ESPN when they were approached by Gilbert Ortega Jr., the owner of Gilbert Ortega Native American Galleries. Ortega is recorded on video yelling at the performers, and he has since been charged with three misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct. (The Miner)
- Eagles fans may have brought a little bit of their hometown to Scottsdale for the Super Bowl, but a local restaurant that specializes in cheesesteaks is always here to give you a bit of its Philadelphia specialty. Philadelphian Giovanni Caranci opened his Scottsdale restaurant Corleone's 20 years ago and specializes in making Philly cheesesteaks that actually use steak from a butcher in Philly. (CBS News)
- Scottsdale bar Pub Rock Live has been serving as a gathering point for Chiefs fans long before the Super Bowl brought the Chiefs to town this past weekend. Kansas City, Mo., native Hotchy Kiene came to Arizona in 1994 and came across fellow Chiefs fans at the local bar, eventually banding together to form Az Chiefs Kingdom, a group with nearly 3,000 members.
