Here are the top three stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. Scottsdale Unified School District joins several other school districts in the Valley that are considering suing social media companies like Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram. Mesa Public Schools has already joined the lawsuit that is suing the companies for allegedly targeting kids and being a "public nuisance," and another lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the Seattle Public Schools. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  2. Members of the Arizona Senate and House are blaming each other for an incident that happened two weeks ago where Scottsdale-based insurance agent Jacqueline Breger appeared before officials during a hearing and accused the governor and state and county officials of taking bribes from the Sinaloa Cartel. The hearing had been scheduled by House Speaker Ben Toma, R-Peoria, to bring in witnesses arranged by Rep. Liz Harris related to an ongoing debate around the 2022 election, and Breger was one of the witnesses called. Senate Majority Leader Sonny Borrelli, R-Lake Havasu City, was allegedly asked to review the materials being presented beforehand, but Borrelli said that Breger's materials had been a surprise. (East Valley Tribune)
  3. One person has died in a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. The accident took place in Scottsdale near 68th Street and Shea Boulevard around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Officials are still investigating the reason behind the crash but said they suspect speed to have played a factor. (Arizona's Family)
