Scottsdale Center For Performing Arts Announces Dance Series Details
The series will include performances by three contemporary dance companies, one from Los Angeles and two from New York.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ —The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday announced details of its 2022-23 Dance Series, which will feature three contemporary dance companies, one from Los Angeles and two from New York.
L.A.'s BODYTRAFFIC begins the series on Dec. 9, New York's Limón Dance Company will be in Scottsdale for a Jan. 14 performance, and Dance Heginbotham, also from New York, will come to town for a March 25 performance.
All shows begin at 8 p.m. at the Virginia G. Piper Theater at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 7380 E. 2nd St. Subscriptions to the Dance Series are now on sale, individual tickets will be available for purchase by Scottsdale Arts ONE Members on June 2, and tickets will go on general sale on June 10.

According to the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, the center is "establishing itself as the premier contemporary dance presenter in the Southwest and foster(ing) the growth of dance in the region."
BODYTRAFFIC, according to its website, began in 2007 and "uses the creative spirit of Los Angeles to fulfill its mission of delivering performances that inspire audiences simply to love dance." The company said it is composed of artists who have trained at some of the finest schools throughout the world.

The Los Angeles Times said of BODYTRAFFIC: "(It is) one of the most talked-about companies —not just in LA, but nationwide."
Limón Dance Company was founded in 1946 by José Limón and Doris Humphrey. According to the company's website, the late José Limón is "credited with creating one of the world's most important and enduring dance legacies— an art form responsible for the creation, growth and support of modern dance in this country."
Diandra Adamczyk, the senior programming coordinator at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, said the performance will feature a mixture of classic Limón works, alongside new work by contemporary choreographers."
Dance Heginbotham (DH) is a New York-based contemporary dance company "committed to supporting, producing and sustaining the work of choreographer John Heginbotham," according to the company's website. DH will be making its Arizona premiere.
The company was founded in 2011 and, according to its website, has "quickly established itself as one of the most adventurous and exciting new companies on the contemporary dance scene, and is celebrated for its vibrant athleticism, humor and theatricality, as well as its commitment to collaboration."
Adamczyk said DH will be collaborating with local artists for its Scottsdale performance.
"The company will be working with local musicians and dancers for its show, which will make the program much more special," Adamczyk said.
