Scottsdale Special Olympics Team Member Shot And Killed: Police
Scott Harkness was found lying on the side of Camelback road early Sunday morning, according to police.
SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Scott Harkness, a member of the Scottsdale Special Olympics Teams, was shot and killed on Sunday in Scottsdale, according to police.
Harkness, 59, was found laying on the side of road at 7900 E. Camelback Road around 1:10 a.m. on Sunday after people heard gunshots in the area and someone spotted him while driving by, police said. Harkness was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Harkness was active in the local special needs community, police said, as a member of the Bobcats Scottsdale Special Olympics Team and Scottsdale's Adaptive Recreation Program.

Police are asking for help from the public for any information about the case. Police ask that anyone with information about the shooting to submit the information through the Scottsdale Police tip system. Anyone leaving tips can leave contact information or remain anonymous.
