Scottsdale's American Indian Festival: What To Know

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — The city of Scottsdale is celebrating the diverse American Indian tribes of Arizona and more this weekend.

The city is hosting its free, American Indian Festival on Saturday and Sunday at Scottsdale Civic Center Mall (3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.).

The festival, which is hosted by the Arizona American Indian Tourism Association, is designed to celebrate the 22 tribes that call the Grand Canyon State home, incorporating everything from traditional food to dancing, singing and more at the event.

The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with family-friendly entertainment options on both days.

Performers include the Pascua Yaqui Tribe's Deer Dancers, the Hopi Traditional Group, the Big Sandy Bird Singers of the Hualapai Tribe and more on Saturday.

Sunday's list of scheduled performers include the Navajo Martin Sisters, Apache Crown Dancers and more.

Other American Indian elements on display at the festival include traditional dwellings within the village area and storytelling, which offer a unique view into the tribes' connection to the various landscapes that Arizona has to offer.
