Missing Aircraft Found Crashed Near Tucson: FAA

The wreckage of the airplane was found Sunday night.

TUCSON, AZ — The wreckage of a missing airplane was found Sunday evening, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The pilot was the only person onboard the airplane, the FAA said, but it did not release the pilot's identity or condition. No survivors were found at the scene, the Associated Press reported.

Around 9 p.m. Sunday first responders found the wreckage of the small single-engine plane about 20 miles southwest of Ryan Airfield near Tucson.

The FAA had told local public safety agencies earlier on Sunday that an aircraft in the area was missing. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
