Local aviation scholarship recipient reports ‘outstanding' first semester at Ozarka College (mhobserver.com) — Mountain Home students interested in aviation have growing opportunities, as a Mountain Home High School graduate reports an excellent first semester at Ozarka College funded by a local aviation scholarship. The Leading Edge Aviation Foundation has expanded its Aviation STEM Studies program to Mountain Home Christian Academy, supports all local schools with aviation resources, and is now accepting applications for 2026 summer aviation experience scholarships worth up to $2,500.
   

2. Arkansas DHS reviewing cases after lawmakers grilled officials in October hearing (5newsonline.com) — A horrific child abuse case in Mountain Home, involving hundreds of charges against two parents, has pushed Arkansas DHS to re-examine how it handles repeated abuse reports statewide. After lawmakers questioned officials about missed warnings, DHS is now reviewing hundreds of past reports, including cases with multiple complaints but no open file, aiming to prevent future failures affecting families like those in Baxter County.
   

3. MH's Barrett Miller; Salem's Brink, Sanderson named Farm Bureau Insurance award finalists (ktlo.com) — Mountain Home football fans have a big reason to cheer as Mountain Home High School standout Barrett Miller has been named a finalist for the 6A Defensive Player of the Year in the Farm Bureau Insurance Awards. The long-running statewide program also honored Salem’s Kaden Brink and Keagan Sanderson, with all finalists invited to a Dec. 15 ceremony recognizing top Arkansas high school players.
   

4. Isabella man arrested after high-speed pursuit ends at Bull Shoals Dam (ktlo.com) — A high-speed chase that began when a Mountain Home sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a pickup on Main Street ended near Bull Shoals Dam with the driver’s arrest. Authorities say the suspect, from Isabella, Missouri, allegedly hit 100 mph while fleeing through several Baxter and Marion County towns before being stopped and jailed on multiple charges, with more possible.
